$1.5 million upgrade of Wellington’s Cable Car Lane begins

• Wellington City Council is giving Cable Car Lane a million dollar revamp.

  The $1.5m facelift, which starts this week, was brought forward by a year to coincide with the closure of the Cable Car, which is undergoing a major upgrade.

  The area was the centre of recent controversy around student drinking and dubbed “chunder lane” by an opponent of Countdown’s application for a liquor licence.
