A building with a strong link to New Zealand’s colonial industrial past will live on in renewed splendour after being saved from demolition.
Wakelin’s Flour Mill in Carterton was built in 1869 and was vitally important in local food production for 95 years until it closed in 1964.
Owner Siobhan Jephson bought the building five years ago and believed it had an important place in the history of the area, as well as having a special place in her family history.
