9 11 Twin Towers

A previously unseen video from 9/11 showing the collapse of the Twin Towers has been posted online, 22 years after the attack.

Kei Sugimoto uploaded the clip to YouTube on July 23, prompting conspiracy theorists to bizarrely claim it proves the collapse was a ‘controlled demolition.’

Mr. Sugimoto explained he posted the video ‘for historical purposes only’ after discovering the recording while clearing out a wardrobe.

In the harrowing footage, Sugimoto filmed the World Trade Center from the roof of 64 Marks Place in New York City. Smoke billows from the towers where the planes crashed, and police sirens blare from the street as the chaos unfolds. Less than a minute into the video, the South Tower collapses, and screams of shock can be heard across the city. Sugimoto then captures the immediate aftermath as a huge cloud of dust engulfs the city. Towards the end of the footage, taken on a Sony VX2000 camera, the North Tower collapses, leaving another cloud of dust in its wake.

In the YouTube comment section, Sugimoto explained why he posted the footage now: ‘I was cleaning my closet and found boxes full of Hi-8, Digital-8, and DV tapes. When trying to play them back, I noticed that about a third had demagnetized over time and were either blank or suffering from major data corruption. After researching online, I learned that video tapes are not immune to age, even when stored in ideal conditions, so I frantically started to digitize them. Thus, I’m just uploading the video now.’

Sugimoto, who witnessed the second crash, only started filming after that because he thought it was ‘no ordinary accident.’

The clip has since gone viral on social media, gaining over 650,000 views on YouTube. Many users have said the video shows a unique and previously unseen angle of the devastating terrorist attack. One user on X said: ‘This footage offers a unique perspective not seen from the south or east. You are watching these angles for the first time ever.’

The footage has also emboldened conspiracy theorists, who claim it proves the debunked theory that 9/11 was an inside job. Some argue that from Sugimoto’s angle, explosive charges can be seen detonating. However, structural engineers have dismissed this theory, pointing out that the towers’ fast collapse was due to a combination of factors, including damage to the buildings’ cores and the intense heat from the fires, which reached as hot as 815 degrees Celsius.

On September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda terrorists launched a massive terror attack against the US involving four planes. Two planes were flown into the Twin Towers, a third plane crashed into the Pentagon, and a fourth crashed into a field in Pennsylvania, killing 2,977 people. The attack remains the deadliest terrorist attack in history.
