A flamboyant real estate agent found himself at the receiving end of relentless ridicule after promoting a suburban home while striking ostentatious poses beside a McLaren sports car that far exceeded the property’s value.
Khalid Sarwari, the director of Only Estate Agents in Narre Warren, located about 40 kilometers southeast of Melbourne’s CBD, recently shared a video on social media to showcase a house for sale in nearby Pakenham, with an asking price of $650,000. Dressed in a three-piece suit complete with a pocket-watch chain, an orange tie, and oversized sunglasses, Mr. Sarwari enthusiastically announced, “This property is ready to go.” The video also prominently featured a white McLaren 720S, believed to be his, with a hinted price tag of $680,000.
Speaking into the camera, he continued, “The owners are very motivated to sell… They’ve made significant updates inside, including refreshing most of the home and replacing all the blinds.” During this explanation, the camera panned to a mailbox with a peeling number ’13’ affixed to it.
The video, which garnered nearly 60,000 views, was inundated with light-hearted quips from Australians on social media.

One person jokingly asked, “Are you starting a morning shift before your own wedding?”
Others were more direct in their criticism. “I’m not sure if you realize, but in that outfit, wearing sunglasses, and flaunting the car just makes people cringe,” wrote one commenter. Another accused him of being an “insecure soul,” adding, “The narcissism is excessive. This isn’t a car promotion; you’re there to sell a house, not indulge in delusions.”
Mr. Sarwari, undaunted, responded to most comments with a sense of humor. He casually referred to his McLaren as “just a lazy run-around car.” When asked about the car’s lease payments, he said, “No idea, but most banks have calculators on their site; input $680,000, and you should get the figures.” In response to a critic who compared his style and inspiration to the 2013 Martin Scorsese-directed black comedy featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, he quipped, “The Wolf of Wall Street is child’s play, my friend.”
He also joined in the mockery of the house, replying to a comment suggesting that “board shorts and a Hilux would have suited (the property) better” with, “Singlet and a VL Turbo?”
Despite the flashy marketing video, it appears that the property has not been sold.
