The opening of Puku Pies & Kai follows the successful launch of Southward Distillery in November last year, which has already gained popularity for its distillery tours, tastings, and retail sales.

- New public facilities near Spruce Goose – A proposed toilet and shower block, including picnic tables and storage for community groups, to improve the visitor experience.
- Enhancements to Huetepara Park – Plans for a new patio area, public walkway, additional seating, and retail outlets behind the airport retail park.
- A new Airport Fire Station in Rongotai – Construction on a state-of-the-art fire station on Coutts Street is set to finish by year-end, featuring landscaping improvements and a designated plane-spotting area for the public.
