An Auckland North Shore dwelling, in a state of disrepair and abandonment, is anticipated to fetch a price of up to $800,000. The property in Glenfield, which is publicly listed on Trade Me, presents a weathered facade with stained paint, patched walls, an unkempt and overgrown lawn, and a yard scattered with broken-down vehicles.

Paulette Edser, the Ray White agent representing the property, disclosed that despite its current condition, the house has garnered interest from tradespeople willing to restore it to its former glory, with offers ranging from $750,000 to $850,000.

The listing boldly states, “Not for the faint-hearted!” and describes the property as “a unique opportunity in a prime location.” It continues to entice potential buyers by offering it as a canvas for ambitious renovators or visionary developers, highlighting the limitless potential to transform the space into something extraordinary.

Edser explained that the house, situated on Glenfield Rd, fell into neglect when most of the family relocated to the Kaipara region several decades ago, leaving it vacant and uncared for. It had also been occupied by various groups who were eventually evicted with police assistance.

The owners had initially begun renovating and gutting the interior, intending to start fresh. However, due to health and age-related challenges, they have decided to sell, as it had become too burdensome and costly for them to continually return to Auckland.

The property boasts several advantages, including its convenient proximity to the motorway, shops, and schools. It is within the school zones of Manuka Primary School, Glenfield Primary School, and Glenfield Intermediate.

Edser expressed optimism that once sold and refurbished, the property would greatly benefit the area, offering a sizable, well-located home on flat land with no flooding concerns. Nevertheless, she acknowledged that the renovation project, while promising, would be a substantial undertaking.
