The derelict Ponsonby cottage at 16 O’Neill Street has sold under the hammer for $1.21 million, $365,000 below its $1.575m valuation.
Barfoot & Thompson Ponsonby manager Tim Irvine said there was “good bidding” on the house, but he does not know what the new owner intends to do with the property.
The five-bedroom cottage drew plenty of attention, with its rotting floors, grass growing inside the house, exposed wiring and loads of mould.
