People opting to become accommodation providers is rising, as Airbnb listing in the south almost triple in the past three years.
Great South general manager tourism and events Bobbi Brown said its data showed there were 873 Southland based listings on Airbnb, compared to 300 in January 2017.
Brown believed it was a positive change for accommodation in the region.
“It is enabling people to stay in the region and spend … we have to acknowledge that people like this type of accomodation.”
