  • The Akaroa community is rallying against a city council move to sell a historic cottage in the village.

Yew Cottage, built in 1877, has deteriorated over the years following frequent flooding and needs more than $200,000 of repair work.

Christchurch City Council staff have recommended the building, which has been vacant since 2007, be sold with a covenant to ensure its heritage values are protected.
