Alex and Corban’s next building challenge

Alex and Corban Walls’ ambitious new build on a steep site in the Auckland suburb of Beach Haven is finally underway, three years after they started the process.

The 2014 winners of The Block NZ have been plagued with delays in getting consent to build their family home, including tense negotiations with neighbours wanting to protect their views and getting council consent.

“I was pregnant when we first started the process and Corban, who’s a bit of an optimist, thought we’d be in by the time our baby was born,” Alex Walls said.

Son Austen is now two years old.
