Taranaki Regional Council is set to vote on an amended option to reinstate Yarrow Stadium back to its full use, and soften the long-term loan repayments for ratepayers.
The amendment recommended by council management reduces the total cost of the preferred Option 2, to repair the East and West stands and upgrade facilities at the venue, from $55.69m to $50m.
The proposal, which is supported by the Taranaki Rugby Union, comes after two days of public submission hearings last week. Just over half (54 per cent) of the 526 submitters favoured repairing the two earthquake-risk stands but leaving further upgrades until more external funding could be found.
