Reports indicate that Liam has submitted plans for an expansive estate in the Byron Bay Hinterland, signaling a significant investment in the area.
Expected to exceed $14 million, Liam’s upcoming renovation project for his Byron Bay residence promises substantial enhancements, already benefiting from stunning panoramic views.

While not reaching the grandeur of Chris’ nearby Broken Head property, which has been likened to a shopping center, Liam’s endeavor is ambitious, aiming for a distinctive presence in the region.
Chris and his wife Elsa Pataky secured their substantial Byron property in 2014, commencing construction on the opulent Fortress Hemsworth in 2017. Spanning 4.2 hectares, the estate features six bedrooms, a media room, gym, spa, and a colossal 50-meter infinity pool, commanding breathtaking district views extending to the Pacific Ocean.
In addition to his upcoming project, Liam also owns a sprawling 38-hectare estate in Newrybar, estimated to be valued at around $50 million.
Purchased in 2021 for $6.8 million, Liam’s Byron Bay property is slated for extensive development, with anticipated building costs nearing $14.5 million. Designed by Melbourne-based architectural firm SSdH, Liam’s envisioned pavilion-style home aims for seamless integration with the surrounding landscape, a departure from his brother’s palatial abode.
The proposed residence will feature two open-plan living areas, five bedrooms with ensuites, a rumpus room surrounding an internal courtyard, a spacious cabana, terrace, gym, sauna, and an impressive 18-meter pool.
Luckily for him, he’s already paid for the cracking views.
This new addition complements Liam’s existing property in Newrybar, boasting five bedrooms and four bathrooms, further solidifying the Hemsworth brothers’ status as esteemed locals in the Byron community, known for hosting prominent figures like Matt Damon.

Despite the high-profile acquisitions, the Byron Bay housing market has experienced a downturn, with the median house price decreasing by 25.1% over the past year, currently standing at $2.21 million, according to PropTrack data.
