Former Sydney Roosters star Anthony Minichiello may have been lightning-fast on the field, but his decade-long mansion rebuild in Vaucluse is proving anything but speedy—and now, the saga has taken a dramatic turn.
The NRL legend and his wife, Terry Biviano, purchased their Hopetoun Avenue property for $3.1 million back in 2014, envisioning a sleek, three-storey modern masterpiece. Fast forward 10 years, and the “dream home” remains an unfinished eyesore, much to the dismay of frustrated neighbours.
The stakes have been raised as a neighbouring property began its own lightning-quick renovation, adding an extra storey in record time. “Maybe this will push them to finally finish,” quipped one neighbour, suggesting the competition could motivate the power couple to pick up the pace.

But work on the home (pictured in November, 2024) still isn’t completed, much to the frustrations of neighbours who have complained about the ‘eyesore’ on a regular basis
The Minichiello-Biviano project has been riddled with setbacks, including planning objections over blocked harbour views, skyrocketing costs, labour shortages, and pandemic-related delays. Originally slated for completion within two years, their hopes were dashed further when construction ground to a halt during COVID, leaving the interiors barely touched.
As work drags on, locals speculate whether the neighbours’ second-storey balcony will see a celebratory champagne toast long before the Minichiellos unpack their moving boxes.
The unfinished Vaucluse mansion remains a hot topic among residents, sparking curiosity—and a little controversy—about whether the couple will ever cross the finish line in their renovation marathon.
