PHOTO: REBECCA STEVENSON/STUFF – Property developer Leonard John Ross and company director Michael James Wehipeihana lied to ANZ Bank to obtain a $41-million loan to construct the Waldorf Celestion Apartment Hotel.

Two businessmen have been jailed on charges brought by the Serious Fraud Office for fraudulently obtaining a bank loan to build an Auckland inner-city apartment block.

Property developer Leonard John Ross (52) was sentenced to four years and four months’ imprisonment, while company director Michael James Wehipeihana (46) was sentenced to four years and three months’ imprisonment.
