A proposal to build apartments above a Lower Hutt library has been hailed as a “great idea” by a prominent architect.
Hutt City Council’s property company Urban Plus is considering demolishing the Petone Library and building a community hub with a library and meeting rooms on the ground floor, and apartments above.
Architect Roger Walker said it was a “great idea” and New Zealand should be looking at building more apartments above retail and community facilities.
