• First-home buyers are buying more apartments and flats, but the Kiwi dream of a standalone house is still strong.

New data shows that nearly a quarter of all sales to Auckland first home-buyers are apartments or flats – a figure which has risen 6 per cent in the last two years.

The rest are largely thought to be standalone homes, according to property data provider, Myvalocity.
