Maggie Barry’s mother was a Wellington florist so it’s no mystery where she inherited her love of plants and flowers from.
Her coastal North Shore home is filled and surrounded by plants, whether real, in artwork or in her extensive gardening book collection.
Unsurprisingly, there is one thing the broadcaster-turned-MP can’t abide – fake plants.
Recently married, one of the latest additions to Barry’s garden is an array of colourful pots husband Grant Kerr painted in cobalt blue, inspired by their honeymoon to Marrakesh, Morocco.
“I knew I’d married the right guy when he loved the Majorelle garden owned by Yves St Laurent as much as I do,” Barry said.
