PRU: About three weeks before Christmas last year, I went out to buy a bottle of milk. I forgot the milk, but I bought the house. It’s just one of those moments where you just see something and you go, “Mother of God I’ve gotta do this! Life will not be the same if I don’t.” It’s a forever house. That’s the way I looked at it.
The curves of it are so exciting. And we’ve lost so much history that I could see the beauty in it. The windows are all acid-etched with the old deer antlers and all those things. It had beige curtains. The colours in there – I called it “corpse grey”. That’s what it looked like! The colour had to go. I thought I could live with it. But, no.
