Wellington house designed by late architect Sir Ian Athfield has been sold by tender, after multiple offers were received late last week.
Listing agent Paul Titcombe of Harcourts Team Wellington says the iconic house, on a hilltop in Khandallah, was bought by a purchaser who appreciates the architectural significance of the property.
“The purchaser said will be keeping everything exactly the same,” he says. “He assured me he won’t be making any major changes to the design or layout.”
Titcombe says more than 100 groups came through the property. These included a group of 30 architects and interior designers from Athfield Architects.
