Rubgy League legend Cameron Smith played his final game for the Melbourne Storm this year, but it appears he had made the mental move up the coast as early as May, when he secretly bought a four-bedroom property in the rural hinterland of Bonogin, on the Gold Coast.
The off-market sale was completed through Ray White Robina, with Smith snapping up the house and 4671sq m block for $855,000. The transaction took place six months ago, but has only come to light now.
Rumours of Smith’s playing future were sparked this week after ‘secret talks’ with the Gold Coast Titans were revealed. News of this purchase will no doubt set the rumour mill into overdrive.
Property records from On The House, a website that combines historical property data and calculated estimate values, show the 195sq m house was built in 2003, and was listed in March this year, with a guide price of $849,000. It last sold in February 2015, for $645,000.
The land alone sold for $195,000 in 2002.
Features of the property include a separate children’s wing, newly renovated bedrooms, inground pool, and a double garage with internal access.
