Marc Marano, the former real estate shop boss turned venture capitalist, has traded up his home real estate handsomely, trading in his Surry Hills apartment for $3 million to buy a house on Gordons Bay for $12.85 million.
The off-market sale smashes the Coogee suburb record by $3.85 million, set six years ago at $9 million by the house purchase a few doors away by Aleksandra Allen, wife of former UBS banker Aidan Allen, who recently joined Kiwi investment bank Jarden.
Marano is the former head of his family’s property business Oxford Agency but left five years ago to join the fitness franchise F45, and moved to the US two years ago to spearhead its expansion into the US market.
Marano’s LinkedIn profile adds that while in the US late last year he co-founded venture capital firm Position Pivot.
Marano made headlines in 2016 when he was revealed as the new boyfriend of The Bachelor reality TV contestant-turn-influencer Emma Rose, who was part of the 2013 series starring Bachelor Tim Robards for two episodes before she quit the show. She co-founded social media marketing company Avenew in 2016.
Marano’s newly purchased five-bedroom digs on oceanfront reserve was a windfall for vendors charity organiser Richard Ernster and his estranged wife Liz, who paid $6.3 million in 2013.
The three-level residence with five bedrooms, two studies, a home cinema, spa and swimming pool is set on ocean-front reserve that backs onto the public walkway on Gordons Bay.
