Simone Zimmermann, one-half of the Australian duo behind a fashion label that evolved from a stall at Paddington Markets to a global brand, has expanded her real estate holdings with the acquisition of a $30 million Bondi home. This five-bedroom property, situated just one house back from the renowned Bronte beach walk, has set new house price records for the area.

The residence boasts modern features, including a pool and multiple outdoor areas, yet is expected to undergo renovations before Zimmermann makes it her home. Positioned with a north-facing view toward the Ben Buckler peninsula, it shares proximity with the location where Simone purchased her last home in 2017 for $5.5 million.

Adjacent to the property stands a 1960s house, which previously held the suburb’s purchase price record at $15 million in 2013. This house was acquired by James Taylor, a venture capitalist known for supporting teal independents. Notably close is the residence of Brett Robson, the head of real estate at Macquarie.

While the property is fairly modern, it is anticipated to undergo renovations before Zimmermann moves in.
In 2023, Simone and her sister Nicky sold their luxury fashion brand Zimmermann for a reported sum exceeding $1 billion to US equity firm Advent International. This move followed Advent International’s offer of $1.75 billion for the brand, worn by celebrities like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Kendall Jenner.
The Zimmermann brand, established in 1991 in Sydney, has grown to encompass 58 stores worldwide. Nicky started the venture by designing dresses in her parent’s garage and selling them at Paddington Markets. Simone joined the business in 1991, and today, the brand has a presence in the UK, Europe, US, and China, with a recently opened design studio in Paris.
With dresses ranging from $495 to $3,500, the business had previously attracted investment, with Milan-based investment fund Style Capital acquiring a 70% stake for $408 million in 2020. The recent sale to Advent International has left the Zimmermann sisters and Style Capital with significant minority shareholdings, ensuring their continued involvement in steering the brand’s future growth.
