THE founder of the Fitness First gym chain in Australia has sold his luxurious, beachfront mansion for a loss, despite fetching a whopping $6.325 million.
It’s third time lucky for fitness industry pioneer Tony de Leede, who first put the property at
223 Hedges Ave, Mermaid Beach, on the market in 2011 for $6.499 million.
Mr de Leede tried to sell the trophy home on the Gold Coast’s so-called ‘millionaire’s row’ again in 2017 and 2018, when he was seeking $7.4 million.
It was last advertised for offers over $6 million.
Mr de Leede bought the property when the global financial crisis was unfolding in 2009 for $7.3 million.
Selling agent Matt Lanyon of Amir Mian Prestige Property Agents only had the listing for a week before he sold it to a Brisbane couple in their 60s.
