Former Bronco and three time NRL premiership winner Micheal De Vere is among property owners on large blocks set to capitalise on massive demand, listing his much-loved six-bedroom home.

With two kids of his four children now out of school, the De Veres are looking to downsize from the home built in 2016 on a half acre block – created after subdividing a five-acre parcel.

“We love it here,” Mr De Vere said. “I originally bought the land back in 2008 with five acres. I searched all over Brisbane for months trying to find a good block and couldn’t find an acre block. They were either really small or really big. I’ve always liked Rochdale because it was old farmland, It’s such a great spot because it feels like being in the country but still close to everything.”

He bought a five-acre parcel in 2008 and subdivided it into one-acre blocks in a process that “took a while to go through” and then further subdivided his acre into two half-acre blocks.

“It was a long process but worth it in the end. We ended up building our dream house. We’ve just loved it, the kids have loved it. It feels like home. It’s got a good feel about it.”

He said the decision to sell was a tough one for the family but the timing was right.

“We’re at that next stage of our lives. We have four kids and the two eldest ones have finished school. We feel the timing’s right. That’s our next step is finding something else.”
