According to realestate.com.au FORMER Home and Away actor Emily Eskell has taken on a new role as a real estate agent on the Gold Coast.
Eskell, whose list of credentials includes a Bachelor of International Politics, a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts and a Diploma of Nursing, said she was attracted to the property industry as it calls upon the skills she has learned over the course of her working life as an actor and nurse.
“When I studied at NIDA, one of the first things I was taught is that being an actor is like running your own small business,” she said.
“And that proved to be so true.
“You need to learn those skills in the same way you need to learn and hone the craft of acting.
“It’s a creative endeavour, but it requires business skills as well.”
Eskell’s career as an actor saw her take centre stage as part of The Bell Shakespeare Company, as well as a host of film and TV roles including the beloved Australian soap opera Home and Away, A Place to Call Home and Doctor Doctor.
The pandemic threw a curveball at Australian production companies, and in turn Emily’s acting career, forcing her to reassess.
Emily undertook a Diploma of Nursing and began a new role as a nurse, working through the pandemic.
Real estate had always held an appeal to Eskell, with an interest in design and a natural ability to communicate.
So, when the opportunity presented itself to join the LJ Hooker Southern Gold Coast team, Eskell didn’t hesitate.
Eskell has teamed up with Lee-Anne Klaus, an established local agent with more than 18 years experience.
“Buying and selling a home is usually a really personal endeavour, and it is my goal to make the experience an enjoyable one,” she said.
“I approach my clients with empathy, honesty and kindness, and I really listen to what they are trying to achieve.
Eskell said trust and a genuine intention to help people were key.
“Of course, there are times when you need to be very direct and tough in order to get your clients what they want, but I really believe people are looking for a more human experience where they are heard and treated with respect, no matter what the circumstances,” she said.
“Working in the southern Gold Coast areas is so exciting. It’s the absolute best part of the Gold Coast in my opinion and it’s a real thrill to be part of the industry here.
