Home prices under $650,000: cheapest beach suburbs in Greater Sydney

Sydney home seekers can still bag homes in beach suburbs for under $650,000 if they’re willing to make some compromises, sales research reveals.

You can still snap up properties near the beach for “first home buyer” prices — as long as you’re prepared to travel at least an hour north of Sydney.

Research from CoreLogic showed the Central Coast was the only major region within the Greater Sydney area where prices are lower than they were last year, with prices in pockets of some beach suburbs down 15 per cent or more.

Beachside suburbs have some houses for under $650,000 — low enough for first home buyers to draw government benefits such as a discount on stamp duty.
