Funnyman turned freshly minted Sydney radio star Dave Hughes might want to avoid making any house calls to pop star Rita Ora while she’s in town.
Ora has moved into a stunning mansion overlooking Chinamans Beach – and beefed up its security –since arriving for various duties, including performing at last weekend’s Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and taking up a coaching gig on the upcoming season of The Voice. However Hughesy is struggling to find somewhere for his young family to call home.
Melbourne through and through, Hughesy moved to Sydney in January for his new breakfast radio show on 2DayFM.
He’s teamed up with sports personality Erin Molan and fellow comic Ed Kavalee and has until Easter to find a home for wife Holly and their three children, Tess, Sadie, and Rafferty.
And while he’s focused on taking down FM radio king Kyle Sandilands in the ratings – he has a long way to go – it’s the more pressing issue of finding somewhere to live that is causing him grief.
“Mate, I’ve met every real estate agent in Sydney … I’ve seen some beautiful houses and I’ve seen some bloody expensive ones too … I like North Bondi, but you know I’m just not sure if it’s the right place for us. And I’ve got a deadline … if I don’t come through soon it will be a disaster,” Hughes told PS over dinner at Woollahra’s Chiswick on Monday night.
“At this rate we’ll be living in Kyle’s pool shed soon.”
Sandilands is currently renting a $5000-a-week mansion in Woollahra.
