High-rise developments have long been a feature of the Gold Coast skyline without any one of them ever really being able to claim the title of the “jewel in the crown”.
That’s all changed now – in more ways than one – through the first apartment release from a $1.5 billion entrant that is likely to redefine how Australia’s premier resort location is instantly recognised throughout the world.
The Jewel Private Residences – comprising three architecturally striking beachfront towers between Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise and with a five-star The Langham hotel at their heart – is now welcoming select buyers through its Sapphire Collection of 40 luxury apartments.
And this is no off-the-plan release with completion sometime over the horizon. This development is completely finished. Buyers could start their new resort lifestyles upon settlement, conceivably within as little as 30 days.
The collection includes one, two and three-bedroom floor plans, with and without a multipurpose room and with open, partial and fully-enclosed balconies. Views include ocean, waterway, hinterland and coastal.
Architecturally, the three towers present as faceted glass shards that pierce the coast skyline with their design inspiration drawn from smokey quartz crystals once discovered in the region.
Jewel has been realised by leading Australian investment and development company, AW Holding Group, which invested $100 million in an impeccable fit-out to attract The Langham hotel as the anchor tenant.
AW Holding Group director, Yutao Li, said the hotel brought its prestige to the development and offered Jewel residents access to them. It’s also the first new beachfront luxury hotel to open on the Gold Coast in more than 30 years.
“It was important to attract The Langham as our anchor tenant before we began the release of apartments within the Jewel,” he says.
“We completed an extensive fit-out to the hotel’s precise specifications to create a five-star hotel and residential precinct with premium resort amenities that fully capitalise on Jewel’s absolute beachfront location.”
The Langham Gold Coast opened in mid-2020 and has proved a hit with guests and locals through extensive attractions including restaurants, cafes, bars and the exclusive Supper Club. Then there are its spa, pools and health club – with access to them for Jewel residents.
“With the hotel open and offering 339 guest rooms, we now present the complete project,” Li says.
“Nothing else on the coast can compete with the Jewel’s absolute beachfront location and its luxury residences that offer the best in resort-style living in combination with The Langham Gold Coast.”
The Sapphire Collection represents a curated selection of floor plans that best express the range of options while also providing an insight into the quality of the interior design. There’s a strong emphasis on a natural palette of stone and timber features in the bespoke fixtures, fittings and finishes. Floor-to-ceiling glass draws in an abundance of natural light while the views – in any direction – are the undoubted showstoppers. Seven display suites are available for inspection.
But there’s something else each Jewel apartment offers that is likely to appeal to buyers with a strong sense of individuality, according to its selling agent.
TOTAL Property Group managing director, Adrian Parsons, said the building’s unique architectural shape ensured that each apartment had a subtle difference in its floor plan.
“No two apartments are exactly the same – the faceted glass gives everyone a floor plan that’s uniquely theirs,” he says.
“We think that will strongly appeal to who we see as our potential and highly discerning buyers.”
Parsons says Jewel had attracted strong interest from both downsizers and upgraders from a wide geographic base stretching to the northern hemisphere.
“Downsizers, locally and interstate, have generated many of our enquiries and there has been equal interest from those already living here who have been waiting for an opportunity to upgrade,” Parsons says.
“About half our enquiries have been drawn locally with many others coming from NSW and Victoria and a number from Europe – which underscores the international appeal of the Gold Coast.”
Parsons says while Jewel was the magnet, the Gold Coast vibe and amenity were also drawcards due to the wide range of hospitality and visitor options, from the local BMD Northcliffe Surf Club to waterside marketplace, Capri on Via Roma, just 15 minutes away.
