You can’t get much for a dollar these days. Maybe a soft serve ice cream at McDonalds or a plastic pen at Kmart – and a home in Florida.

OK, we are talking about an American buck, but even with today’s weak Aussie dollar that still only amounts to $AUD1.41.

According to a report in the New York Post, seller Stephan Burklin dropped the asking price of the one-bedroom unit he inherited at the Boca West Country Club, which is 74kms north of Miami, Florida from $10,000 ($AUD 14,000) to one US dollar.

The reason for the drastic discount? After his mother passed away and his father was transferred into assisted living, Mr Burklin had no need for the apartment.

“It’s just too small for us,” said the 51-year old father of three.
