Eight-time world champion surfer Stephanie Gilmore is putting up for sale an investment apartment situated in one of Australia’s renowned surf locations. The apartment, a two-bedroom unit in the sought-after Rainbow Bay area of Tweed Heads, is being listed for sale. Notably, this area will host the surfing events for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, with the famous Snapper Rocks surf break as its backdrop.

This apartment, located on the second level of a 16-unit complex on Hill Street, boasts one bathroom and two parking spaces. It features front, side, and rear balconies. Gilmore is aiming to sell it for a price ranging from $850,000 to $930,000, a notable increase from the $392,500 she paid for it back in 2006. The marketing material highlights the rarity of such front-facing units becoming available in the market.

Among her property holdings in the building, this apartment is one of two owned by Gilmore. Her first purchase, made in 2005, cost her $442,500. This acquisition came on the heels of her entrance into the professional surfing scene, a milestone marked by her becoming the youngest winner of an ASP Women’s World Tour event at the age of 19.

In the building, the most recent sale was that of the sole three-bedroom apartment, which changed hands for $650,000 in 2021.

Surfing legend Mick Fanning, another prominent figure in the surfing world, has owned a unit in the same building since 1999. He secured his two-bedroom apartment for a price of $170,000. This residence is situated just 200 meters away from Gilmore’s long-standing abode, a four-bedroom apartment in the Point D complex, which was built in 2010 and was purchased for $1.7 million in 2011.

The forthcoming addition of the new $720 million Tweed Hospital in Cudgen has notably bolstered buyer confidence in the neighboring beachside property market, according to PropTrack.

As a result, the median price for two-bedroom apartments now stands at $626,500, with a total of 90 sales recorded over the past year.

Real estate agents in the area are reporting inquiries not only from local buyers but also from medical professionals in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, drawn to the area due to its proximity to the upcoming hospital facility.
