Aussies owe a lot to Shane Stedman, who is not only a legend in the surfing world, but also invented the iconic Ugg boot – a staple item in almost everyone’s winter wardrobe.
He also spent decades creating a beautiful beach house at 61 Hillcrest Ave, Mona Vale overlooking his beloved waves, which he bought in 1974, and sold on Sunday for $5.306 million.

The house went to auction on Saturday in front of a crowd of 200, with six registered bidders and a price guide of $4.1 million.
Two bidders took part and the property was passed in just over $5 million. After that, another two buyers emerged wanting to negotiate – so then there were four parties vying for the property.
On Sunday, a deal was struck with a buyer’s agent acting on behalf of an expat family still based abroad. The home will become their main residence when they return to Australia.
