{"id":11457,"date":"2018-02-20T14:54:43","date_gmt":"2018-02-20T01:54:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/?p=11457"},"modified":"2018-02-20T15:22:30","modified_gmt":"2018-02-20T02:22:30","slug":"vic-agents-buyers-warned-trust-account-hacking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/vic-agents-buyers-warned-trust-account-hacking\/","title":{"rendered":"Vic agents, buyers warned of trust account hacking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PHOTO:\u00a0The director of Consumer Affairs Victoria, Simon Cohen, said that it was \u201cvital\u201d that people involved in purchasing a property pay close attention to detail when transferring significant funds for a home deposit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Consumer Affairs Victoria has warned all affected parties, including real estate agents and home buyers, of a possible scam targeting vulnerable buyers, with losses already exceeding $200,000.<\/p>\n<p>The Victorian consumer affairs regulator has said that it has received notification\u00a0about hackers targeting the email accounts of real estate agencies and attempting to scam home buyers into paying their deposits into the wrong bank account.<\/p>\n<p>Consumer Affairs Victoria elaborated: \u201cIn most cases, the home buyer was sent an email from the selling agent with the contract of sale and trust account details for payment of the deposit.
