property market is improving and the News Corp-majority owned property classifieds business is well-positioned to capture profits.<\/p>\n<p>REA increased underlying profits in a tough local property market over the last year, which has included a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.afr.com\/topic\/federal-election--afr-only--5x4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">federal election<\/a>\u00a0and two state elections in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.afr.com\/topic\/nsw-votes-1m46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NSW<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.afr.com\/politics\/victorian-election-2018-daniel-andrews-labor-party-set-for-landslide-win-20181123-h18ahf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Victoria<\/a>, and decreased access to mortgage finance as the financial sector went through the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.afr.com\/topic\/banking-royal-commission-hql\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener
