Photo: Supplied <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">The number of commercial property deals in 2019 has dwindled below the long-term average despite total transaction values looking set to eclipse those of the year prior, according to new figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2019, about 640 transactions were recorded in Australia, some 30 per cent lower than the five-year average of 983, preliminary figures from CBRE found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Total sales for the year are about $37 billion, which is just shy of the $38 billion recorded in 2018, CBRE head of capital markets research Ben Martin-Henry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He predicts that 2019 will be on par with the past five years, as there are still a handful of significant deals in the works, so it is likely that 2019 will surpass 2018 levels but not \u201cin any consequential way\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe total dollar value, however, masks an underlying quietness in the market as the number of transactions is (about) 30 per cent down on the five-year average,\u201d Mr Martin-Henry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis result indicates that owners have been reluctant to divest assets as they are keenly aware that they will struggle to redeploy the capital raised from divestments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">READ MORE VIA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialrealestate.com.au\/news\/what-sold-and-where-the-biggest-commercial-property-transactions-of-2019-919641\/\">COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PHOTO: The retail sector may be in the doldrums but<span class=\"more-link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/the-biggest-commercial-property-transactions-in-australia-of-2019\/\">Read More &rarr;<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":22836,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[461747081],"tags":[478102122,478098914,478098525,478104869,478108234,478098513],"class_list":["entry","author-data123nz","post-22835","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-australian-property-real-estate-news","tag-cbre","tag-commercial-property","tag-commercial-real-estate","tag-office-buildings","tag-office-property","tag-property"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.6 -
