{"id":23654,"date":"2020-02-13T10:20:11","date_gmt":"2020-02-12T21:20:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/?p=23654"},"modified":"2020-02-13T10:20:30","modified_gmt":"2020-02-12T21:20:30","slug":"the-coronavirus-could-cause-a-chinese-stampede-for-aussie-property","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/the-coronavirus-could-cause-a-chinese-stampede-for-aussie-property\/","title":{"rendered":"The coronavirus could cause a Chinese stampede for Aussie property"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> <strong>PHOTO: Aussie property <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">There are reports that could cause a sharp rise of purchases for Aussie property by Chinese buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m not surprised, if I were living in China at the moment I\u2019d be pretty nervous about the coronavirus with the rate of infections and deaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Australian Financial Review, the shutdown in China due to the coronavirus has caused a rush of Chinese buyers looking for a safe haven. The China property portal Juwai.com has seen a 300% increase in the number of enquiries for Australian property over the past week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AFR quoted a few property agents confirming that they had seen a large increase of interested buyers who are \u201cdesperate to buy\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m not surprised that there\u2019s a large increase of interest in Australia. Most Aussie cities are a long way from the action, although the world is linked with air travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The property market is already seeing a strong rise in property prices, particularly Sydney and Melbourne, due to Australia\u2019s lower interest rates, relaxed lending rules and the fact that the Liberals won the Federal election last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another rush of Chinese buyers would be good news for every ASX share related to property. I\u2019m thinking of shares like property portal businesses&nbsp;<strong>REA Group Limited<\/strong>&nbsp;(ASX: REA) and&nbsp;<strong>Domain Holdings Australia Ltd<\/strong>&nbsp;(ASX: DHG), property builders like&nbsp;<strong>Mirvac Group<\/strong>&nbsp;(ASX: MGR),&nbsp;<strong>Finbar Group Limited<\/strong>&nbsp;(ASX: FRI) and&nbsp;<strong>Stockland Corporation Ltd<\/strong>&nbsp;(ASX: SGP), as well as construction businesses such as&nbsp;<strong>Brickworks Limited<\/strong>&nbsp;(ASX: BKW) and&nbsp;<strong>CSR Limited<\/strong>&nbsp;(ASX: CSR).
