{"id":23703,"date":"2020-02-17T07:46:50","date_gmt":"2020-02-16T18:46:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/?p=23703"},"modified":"2020-02-17T07:46:58","modified_gmt":"2020-02-16T18:46:58","slug":"will-coronavirus-impact-property-prices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/will-coronavirus-impact-property-prices\/","title":{"rendered":"Will Coronavirus Impact Property Prices?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PHOTO: Coronavirus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">Major housing markets in Australia are expected to realise solid&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourinvestmentpropertymag.com.au\/news\/melbourne-to-hit-1m-median-next-year-269977.aspx\">gains in prices over the next two years<\/a>, but two things could potentially slow down the price forecasts: the coronavirus outbreak and a potential macroprudential measure, said an economist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trent Wiltshire, an economist at Domain, said the coronavirus outbreak in China might have an impact on Australia&#8217;s economy, albeit only in the short-term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It will hit the tourism and education sectors particularly hard. But it&#8217;s possible the outbreak will be much more severe and cause a significant economic slowdown in China, which would have a big impact on Australia&#8217;s economy,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a recent statement to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics, the Reserve Bank of Australia Governor Philip Lowe said the outbreak of the coronavirus represents a new source of uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It is too early to tell what the impact will be, but the SARS outbreak in 2003 may provide a guide.
