Buying or selling a house is one of life’s more stressful events, but imagine doing it during a global pandemic.<\/p>\n

The real estate industry has been turned on its head over the past six weeks, with big changes to the way we buy and sell houses.<\/p>\n

The ABC’s Personal Finance team looked into it, state by state.<\/p>\n

So, are houses still for sale?<\/h2>\n

Yes.<\/p>\n

But the process of buying and selling is very different, since a\u00a0blanket ban on on-site auctions and open-for-inspections<\/strong>\u00a0was announced by the Prime Minister<\/a>\u00a0in late March.<\/p>\n

Instead, auctions can be done online or are being sold by private sale.<\/p>\n

While online auctions are allowed, very few are going ahead, with the vast majority switching to private treaty.<\/p>\n
