Tessa Terlouw and Lyra Rinaudo met by chance in a bottle shop.<\/p>\n

From strangers, they became roommates, best friends and, most recently, owners of a four-bedroom house in Coburg North.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-olds share their new home with three others, splitting chores, cooking duties and care for Terlouw\u2019s rescue dog, Frida. More recently, they\u2019ve been each other\u2019s lifelines as the coronavirus lockdown limited their social interaction with the outside world.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really lightens the load,\u201d\u00a0Terlouw says. \u201cEverybody gets along really well, so it\u2019s a bit of a family arrangement.\u201d<\/p>\n

As well as the economic benefit of shared living, it makes emotional sense to\u00a0Terlouw, who works in sexual assault services, and Rinaudo, a GP, who have been living together more than six years.<\/p>\n

The \u201cplatonic life partners\u201d have supported each other through life\u2019s thick and thin, from break-ups to tough days at work.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen something has been hard, Lyra\u2019s always around to support me,\u201d\u00a0Terlouw\u00a0says.<\/p>\n
