{"id":26819,"date":"2020-08-15T14:51:22","date_gmt":"2020-08-15T02:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/?p=26819"},"modified":"2020-08-15T14:51:22","modified_gmt":"2020-08-15T02:51:22","slug":"cheap-and-nasty-purplebricks-why-it-didnt-work-down-under","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/cheap-and-nasty-purplebricks-why-it-didnt-work-down-under\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Cheap and nasty&#8221; Purplebricks &#8211; why it didn&#8217;t work down under"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>P<\/strong><strong>HOTO: Purplebricks Australia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A leading expert on estate agency and the housing market in Australia has lifted the lid on how Purplebricks failed down under.<\/p>\n<p>The always-controversial agency launched down under almost exactly four years ago today with promises to introduce cheap flat fees to an eager market, to bring \u201cworld-beating technology\u201d to a tired industry, and to help the Australian housing market thrive.<\/p>\n<p>Agency founder Michael Bruce told The New Daily newspaper at that time: \u201cEveryday Australian people go out there to\u00a0take the risk, the leap of faith, to live the Aussie dream of owning their own home, only to find when they come to sell it they\u2019ve got no option, until now, but to fill the pockets of real estate agents with tens of thousands of dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, 15 months ago a humbled agency announced that as a result of \u201csome execution errors\u201d coupled with a difficult housing market, Purplebricks Australia would shut. The same announcement revealed Michael Bruce was leaving the company.<\/p>\n<p>Now Lisa Novak, director of Australian agency Novak Properties &#8211; and a familiar voice in the UK, having been interviewed on her perspective in the past &#8211;
