href=\"https:\/\/www.westpac.com.au\/content\/dam\/public\/wbc\/documents\/pdf\/aw\/economics-research\/er20201014BullConsumerSentiment.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">latest<\/a>\u00a0Westpac-Melbourne Institute Index of Consumer Sentiment, the percentage of Aussies who feel it is \u2018time to buy a dwelling\u2019 rose by 10.6 per cent to a level not seen since September 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"canvas-atom canvas-text Mb(1.0em) Mb(0)--sm Mt(0.8em)--sm\" data-reactid=\"25\">\u201cConfidence in the housing market has boomed,\u201d Westpac chief economist Bill Evans said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"canvas-atom canvas-text Mb(1.0em) Mb(0)--sm Mt(0.8em)--sm\" data-reactid=\"30\">New South Wales residents revealed a significant surge in optimism, with the index revealing an \u201coutstanding\u201d rise of 11.3 per cent for this state, while Victoria rose by 7 per cent and Queensland rose by 4.4 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"canvas-atom canvas-text Mb(1.0em) Mb(0)--sm Mt(0.8em)--sm\" data-reactid=\"31\">But Aussies from Western Australia and South Australia are the most optimistic about the property market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"canvas-atom canvas-text Mb(1.0em) Mb(0)--sm Mt(0.8em)--sm\" data-reactid=\"32\">\u201cThe two states that have traditionally lagged the eastern states in the housing market but which are now dealing most successfully with the virus are standouts with respect to confidence around housing: WA is up 29 per cent [on Westpac\u2019s \u2018time to buy a dwelling\u2019 index] and SA has lifted by 10 per
