property boom, with the region Australia\u2019s top pick for international buyers desperate to flee pandemic hotspots for the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n<div class=\"story-content\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?client=internal-element-cse&amp;cx=007736748303843525207:i95wheizs-a&amp;q=https:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/chris-hemsworths-gold-coast-beachside-mansion-is-revealed\/&amp;sa=U&amp;ved=2ahUKEwiWh8-ss8ruAhUbzDgGHTNwBIEQFjAAegQIARAC&amp;usg=AOvVaw2u4WFpb_MQIEuXXCCWv0n5\">Gold Coast<\/a> was the most searched region of 2020, with most activity coming from New Zealand, the US and the UK, according to data from realestate.com.au.<\/p>\n<p>The Insights Report by REA Group analysed overseas searches for property across Australia, with COVID-19 lockdowns, border closures, the US election and civil unrest all fuelling a spike in activity from returning expats and offshore buyers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"w650 h365 image media\">\n<div class=\"image-wrapper\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" image-loaded\" <span class=\"image-source\">Source: Supplied<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Holiday hotspots Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads and Broadbeach were the most searched suburbs, with \u201cGold Coast, QLD\u201d the most popular search term, accounting for 7 per cent of all overseas inquiry on the leading listings website.<\/p>\n<p>Other suburbs piquing interest were Hope Island, where residential real estate is free from foreign investment restrictions, and multicultural Southport.<\/p>\n<p>Harcourts Coastal sales director Rob Forde said the Gold Coast arm of the multinational agency was working closely with international counterparts to source property for buyers, particularly from New Zealand and the US.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen a big uptick in expat numbers,\u201d
