A couple in their 80s have bought an uninhabitable home at Cronulla for\u00a0$2.725 million, which they now plan to knock down and rebuild from scratch.<\/p>\n

While some people in their twilight years look to wind down, this couple ploughed ahead with buying a house at auction recently which many (much younger) buyers did not dare even touch.<\/p>\n

They had to beat competition from 13 other bidders to get the keys to\u00a076 Nicholson Parade<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 a derelict two-bedroom home that had not been lived in for at least 35 years.<\/p>\n

Luxe Real Estate Agents director\u00a0Stuart Payne\u00a0said the house was so bad it had a warning in place for people inspecting it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe house was totally dilapidated, you couldn\u2019t live there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

But the couple were unperturbed by the state of the home in Sydney\u2019s south, nor worried by the price.<\/p>\n

Their next plan? Building themselves a new pad.<\/p>\n
