much junk that inspectors couldn\u2019t get in has sold at a packed auction for $2 million.<\/p>\n<div class=\"story-content\">\n<p>The rundown house on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realestate.com.au\/property-house-nsw-ashfield-135818262?rsf=syn:news:nca:news:spa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elizabeth St\u00a0<\/a>in Ashfield was reported to have items packed from the floor to the ceiling in some rooms before nearly $25,000 was spent clearing the home out.<\/p>\n<p>The auction on Saturday attracted 27 registered bidders and a crowd of about 150 spectators sprawled across the street.<\/p>\n<p>The hammer dropping at $2 million price was met with applause from the huge crowd and many in attendance expressed their disbelief at the result.<\/p>\n<p>With holes in the floor, crumbling walls and an inaccessible backyard clogged with overgrown trees, the Federation-style house was initially expected to sell for a much lower for a price around the $1.5 million mark, according to selling agent Nick Dilles.<\/p>\n<p>The Century 21-Fairfield agent said the expectations rose once 200 groups came through the open homes and the reserve was written at $1.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Dilles told the Sunday Telegraph before the auction he was expecting a possible price of $1.7 million due to the surge in
