An iconic Sydney<\/a> warehouse, known as the \u201clips building\u201d, has been listed for sale with a $3.3 million price guide after being converted into a bespoke, three-level residence.<\/p>\n

The warehouse conversion in Erskineville in Sydney\u2019s inner south-west\u00a0 \u2013 famous for the large, brightly-coloured lips that adorn the facade of the 1930s building \u2013 will go under the hammer on May 29.<\/p>\n

The listing agent for the five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence at\u00a0186 Rochford Street<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Duncan Gordon, director of Raine & Horne Newtown \u2013 said the stunning home had already attracted enormous interest from a broad mix of buyers.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone knows the lips building in Erskineville. It\u2019s a very iconic building in this area, and so the listing has created a lot of talk and interest among the local community,\u201d Mr Gordon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we\u2019ve also had buyers coming from all over the place who have been attracted to this unique and iconic building and the idea of living so close to the city.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Gordon said the famous lips were originally used as part of a Sydney Mardi Gras parade but said he did not know the full story of how they came to be on the famous Erskineville warehouse.<\/p>\n
