a\u00a0peaceful\u00a0march\u00a0through the inner <a href=\"https:\/\/propertynoise.co.nz\/au\/?s=Brisbane&amp;submit=Search\">Brisbane<\/a> suburb to protest a development proposal that would encroach on the state-owned veggie patch\u00a0and see the existing housing on the adjoining property demolished.<\/p>\n<section class=\"_1uHEE _2Mryn _2X-83 g1U-R v-gc3\" role=\"contentinfo\" housing<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-component=\"ListItem\">Under the development proposal, eight three-bedroom boutique apartments would\u00a0replace the existing units<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-component=\"ListItem\">The developer has\u00a0consulted with the community\u00a0and\u00a0says it is disappointed the protest is based on a &#8220;misconception&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/section>\n<p class=\"_1HzXw\">A modest crowd chanted as they marched down Boundary Street from Bunyapa Park on Saturday afternoon\u00a0behind a banner that read: Compost the Rich.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_1HzXw\">One protester was even pushed in a wheelbarrow.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CTA4Qt_h5Zu\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link<\/p>\n<p class=\"_1HzXw\">Kuripla Garden, located at 250 Boundary Street,\u00a0Highgate Hill,\u00a0was established by a community group called Growing Forward\u00a0at the start of the pandemic as a way of managing food insecurity by\u00a0providing free produce to those who needed\u00a0it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_1HzXw\">Alice Wicks is one of the community members involved in the garden and says\u00a0protecting the garden\u00a0is what is best for the community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_1HzXw\">Wicks has been actively involved in opposing the development.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_1HzXw\">&#8220;So far that&#8217;s been putting in submissions to oppose it and also having rallies and trying to get mass support around the garden to save it,&#8221;\u00a0they\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"_2XhY1
