A man who owns more than 8000 properties has made a surprising demand ahead of the looming election.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Robert Kiyosaki<\/a>, author of best-selling personal finance book \u2018Rich Dad Poor Dad\u2019, wants negative gearing<\/a> to be scrapped despite it directly benefiting people like him.<\/p>\n

Negative gearing allows investors like himself to still turn a profit or at least break even if their investment, in this case property, is running at a loss because of substantial tax breaks.<\/p>\n

But he says it\u2019s enabling stupid people to keep investing.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy questions is this to you. If I\u2019m losing $200 a month how many properties can I afford? None. And if I\u2019m making $200 a month, how much can I afford? As much as I can get,\u201d Mr Kiyosaki said in a video provided to news.com.au.<\/p>\n

When he and his wife went to Australia from the US, he said he \u201conly looked for properties that put money in our pocket.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the estate agent said \u2018don\u2019t worry, you\u2019re only losing $200 a month.\u2019 I said \u2018no, I don\u2019t lose money.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got to be smarter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Kiyosaki says only a fool would rely on negative gearing.<\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n

On Wednesday, Mr Kiyosaki\u00a0told the AFR<\/a>\u00a0in an interview: \u201cI have another name for negative gearing: stupidity.<\/p>\n
