Research has revealed that the unusual structure has been known locally as “The Bunker” and “the German’s house”, and there is a “keep out” sign on its big iron gates.

A Google Maps search has it listed as the Ruins of Habsburg.

Back in 2020, the Cairns Post revealed that the ruins were owned by Robert Zmeskal, who bought the site in 1980 for $14,000.

The building has sat idle for more than 40 years, and has become the target of vandals and reclaimed by nature.

It has been on the market since March 2020, but has been listed off and on since 2010.

In 2020, it was listed for rent for $300 a week.

The Trinity Beach median house price is $650,000, while the median weekly rent is $560.

At $300 a week, that’s cheap in the current rental market.

But you might need to pitch a tent.

The vacancy rate in Cairns is a tight 0.5 per cent.
