record, with eight rate hikes already delivered by the Reserve Bank\u00a0and more expected to take the cash rate up towards 3.5 per cent, and potentially beyond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_39n3n\">Variable mortgage rates\u00a0are typically a couple of percentage points above the cash rate, leaving most borrowers looking at 5-6 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_39n3n\">That is hitting the borrowing capacity\u00a0of potential buyers, like Nilesh Shukla.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"HTQDr _8ohDw yvdCO IfoSG\" role=\"group\" data-print=\"inline-media\" aria-labelledby=\"101918286\"
