In concerning news for Australians grappling with the cost of living crisis, some economists are cautioning that interest rates are unlikely to decrease until 2025.<\/p>\n

Bond markets, which predict future interest rates, are indicating that interest rate cuts may no longer be in the plans for 2024. This perspective is shared by a former senior economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), Jonathan Kearns, who currently serves as the Chief Economist at Challenger. Kearns, who held the position of head of domestic markets at the RBA until March this year, has stated that he anticipates interest rates will not see a decline until 2025.<\/p>\n
