A group of Auckland residents are searching for answers after Auckland Council allowed a property developer to turn their Newmarket apartment block into a large scale hotel operation.
Four years ago Lei Sun bought off the plans a two-bedroom unit at the Edgerley Apartments for $759,000.
The 81-unit development, walking distance from New Zealand’s premier retail precinct, was completed in September and on November 20 its developer, Hong Kong-owned company Hermitage Homes, was given Auckland Council consent for all 81 apartments to be used as visitor accommodation.
